BRIHA Mission
The Blue Ridge Ice Hockey Association (B.R.I.H.A.) is organized for educational and charitable purposes with a specific mission to include:
- To stimulate and encourage interest in ice hockey as a participant sport;
- To recruit formidable membership comprised of youth, students, families, associate and supporting members
who both benefit from and help promote the objectives of B.R.I.H.A;
- To provide quality educational experiences that foster the development of hockey skills for area youth; and the
coaches who work with B.R.I.H.A teams;
- To provide experiences that foster character development of youth by instilling the ideals of citizenship,
sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork through participation incompetitive team sports;
- To provide financial assistance to support all youth who may benefit from participation in B.R.I.H.A programs;
- To establish mutually beneficial relationships with similar, amateur ice hockey associations in Virginia and the
surrounding East Coast region;
- To publish newsletters, books, and other educational information to benefit the membership and promote the
development of the B.R.I.H.A;
- To actively pursue financial grants, gifts, holding property, scholarships and sponsorships to support the
programs which are a function of the B.R.I.H.A;
- To affiliate the B.R.I.H.A with the United States Amateur Hockey Association, hereinafter referred to as USA Hockey,
and/or other sanctioned governing bodies determined by the Association as a member organization.
