BRIHA Mission

The Blue Ridge Ice Hockey Association (B.R.I.H.A.) is organized for educational and charitable purposes with a specific mission to include:
  1. To stimulate and encourage interest in ice hockey as a participant sport;
  2. To recruit formidable membership comprised of youth, students, families, associate and supporting members who both benefit from and help promote the objectives of B.R.I.H.A;
  3. To provide quality educational experiences that foster the development of hockey skills for area youth; and the coaches who work with B.R.I.H.A teams;
  4. To provide experiences that foster character development of youth by instilling the ideals of citizenship, sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork through participation incompetitive team sports;
  5. To provide financial assistance to support all youth who may benefit from participation in B.R.I.H.A programs;
  6. To establish mutually beneficial relationships with similar, amateur ice hockey associations in Virginia and the surrounding East Coast region;
  7. To publish newsletters, books, and other educational information to benefit the membership and promote the development of the B.R.I.H.A;
  8. To actively pursue financial grants, gifts, holding property, scholarships and sponsorships to support the programs which are a function of the B.R.I.H.A;
  9. To affiliate the B.R.I.H.A with the United States Amateur Hockey Association, hereinafter referred to as USA Hockey, and/or other sanctioned governing bodies determined by the Association as a member organization.
